'It's about embracing the accident, embracing the non-control, embracing the passsage of time' Bosco Sodi.
Like an archaeologist I have been peeling back the surface layers of painting to find the source, the physical materiality of artworks. My practice is experimental in its approach to material processes and mark-making. My methodology has developed through an MA in Fine Art which involved an experimental investigation of materials. I have used traditional art materials and those made with natural processes such as rusting and calcification to investigate the transformation of matter. I have been thinking about what a painting is and what materials say to us. This was developed from the industrial remnants left on and in the mountain where I live in North Wales.
